“I will build my church”

Jesus told Peter that He was going to build His Church  Matthew 16:18 (NIV) And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it. This followed Peter’s revelation from heaven. Then Jesus gave him the keys.

Like Peter we can have a revelation from Heaven and understand we have the keys but then finding that God deals drastically with us to clear out prejudices, preconceived ideas, and hindrances to bring us to a place of usability to promote the revelation. At times it can surprise and even shock us what God does with us. It may even cause us to be the subject of criticism or persecution. Are we prepared to press in with an obedience despite what we feel and see that may cause us discomfort. Are we prepared to only do the fathers will and not stick to traditions and maybe man made ideas that are not inline with His purposes. Do we cooperate in the building of His church and not traditions, or mans egos shrouded  by a lie of clouding the truth behind it.

Peters statement in Acts 11:17 (NIV) So if God gave them the same gift he gave us who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could stand in God’s way?”  He had already said something to the civic leaders in Acts 3:19-20 (NIV) Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus. Its different when you are with a person who should know better and from whom you expect understanding and cooperation. When God is moving what is a person to do? Get in Gods way? Get out of Gods way? or cooperate? If we are to see His Glory manifest there is only the way of cooperation.

When God moves He shakes that which can be shaken, and disturbs notions and ideas that are not in His plan. When we listen to His voice through His written word and His prophetic voice we are to take hold and pray diligently His purposes into being. When we pray through in line with HIS PURPOSES it strikes like a lightening bolt and brings a devastating impact to opposition and sets in motion HIS PLAN. I have expechurchrienced this on a number of occasion in seeing healings, closing of businesses down, removal of men in opposition etc. Its the only way if we really are His and want His will to be done. We pray the Lords prayer into being Matthew 6:10 (NIV) your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

There are two centers of Gods operation 1) Individuals 2) Group

1 Individuals – It is still true that Gods methods are people. He chooses people but needs their cooperation.

2 Group – Repentance into life. Acts 11:18 (NIV) When they heard this, they had no further objections and praised God, saying, “So then, even to Gentiles God has granted repentance that leads to life.” The Church in Antioch However when Peter went to Caesarea he met with opposition from a group Acts 11:2 (NIV) So when Peter went up to Jerusalem, the circumcised believers criticized him. Peter was a man who feared God, prayed, loved, practiced charity. If God had not been satisfied with him he wouldn’t have sent Peter into that situation. The purpose of God is to have a people who listen to His voice and walk in obedience despite feelings, emotions and opposition. For as we do so we will see His mighty plans unfolded in reality, impacting ourselves and on a wider plain.
